Chicagoland Baptists,

You’re always welcome to join us for Wednesday morning prayer from 9:00 to 9:30 AM.  Just click here tomorrow or dial 331-218-1983 (Conference ID: 756 030 557#).

It was great to see many of you at the recent Pastor’s Conference and Annual Meeting down in Springfield (you can watch the sermons and sessions here if you missed them).  One tradition at these denominational get-togethers is to pass ‘Resolutions’ – “Whereas… whereas… be it resolved…”  Because we’re Baptists, these are non-binding statements.  They simply express the position of the majority of messengers present at that time addressing the issues of the time.  If you want to read more on the resolutions from this last meeting, check out here.  If you want to see every resolution ever passed by the SBC, check out here.

Here is someone to know about – Pastor Phill Howell.  Phill Howell serves as a pastor of Embassy Church in the northwest suburbs.  He and his wife, Christine, have five children.  They both grew up in the Washington, D.C., area, met in high school, and then got married while in college at Olivet Nazarene University.  After doing an internship at Capitol Hill Baptist Church the Howell’s were sent to Chicago in 2012 to plant a church.  On February 15, 2015, Embassy Church was birthed.  One of Phill’s primary responsibilities is to oversee the Sunday gatherings and the preaching of God’s Word.  He recently started a new sermon series that will take him through all of the Psalms.  Please pray for good fruit to come from his regular preaching of God’s Word.  [if he looks familiar it could be because he looks like Abe Lincoln OR maybe you saw him in the documentary American Gospel]

Here are some events to know about –

  • The Chicago Metro Baptist Association Annual Meeting – “Rebooting the Fellowship (Ps. 85:10)” – is this Saturday (11/20) from 9:00 AM to noon, with lunch provided.  It will be held at the CMBA Building (1356 N. Rockwell Avenue, Chicago, IL  60622).

  • This Saturday Pastor Corey Brooks is going to start living in a tent on a rooftop for the next three months!  Find out why here and pray for him.

Here’s something else to know about – Through our partnership we send 3,635 IMB missionaries to the unreached parts of the world with the gospel!  The Week of Prayer and Annual Lottie Moon Christmas Offering is coming up!  See how your church can participate here.

Still have people in your church hesitant to come back due to COVID caution?  Pastor Kenyatta Smith (312-523-6957) is using S&T Labs to do free on-site testing and wanted to pass that on to everyone in case you might find that helpful too.  His rep there is Siddiqui (773-544-0201).

Happy Thanksgiving,
