“We preach Christ crucified, a stumbling block to Jews and folly to Gentiles, but to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God” (1Cor. 1:23-24). May our churches lift high the Cross today and every day. And may the Lord draw many to himself through our proclamation of this counterintuitive message.
If you don’t have a Good Friday Service, considering joining with a few other Chicagoland Baptist churches for a service at Pilgrim Rest (1901 W. Washington; right by the United Center) tonight at 7:00 PM.
Here is somewhere to know about – the Far South Side
This year we’ve been encouraging every Chicagoland Baptist church to pray for a couple other Chicagoland Baptist churches each Sunday. You can see the schedule and prayer requests here. Recently, we’ve been praying for churches around the Far South Side of the city. Historically, this area was anchored by the steel industry, which lost tens of thousands of jobs in the 1970s and 80s, resulting in disinvestment and other ensuing social issues. However, the neighborhood is resilient and ripe for gospel work. Keep praying for our churches down there like The Connection with Ron Gray. And if you’re looking for a fun, local excursion, check out Steelworkers Park where you can go hiking or rock climbing on the ruins of an old U.S. Steel mill.
