Things to Know (August)

As summer winds down and the fall season of ministry kicks in, let’s draw strength from the fact that the Lord does not change (Mal. 3:6) and his faithfulness endures forever (Ps. 117:2).

The Chicagoland Baptists (CMBA) Facebook Group has been updated (this is different than the Facebook Page)!  It is now a private group only for current leaders in Chicagoland Baptist churches.  We hope this can be a place where we can all share news/events/information relevant to our shared mission in Chicagoland.  What’s happening at your church (praise or petition)?  Have a need?  Got a question?  You can join here.

Here is someone to know about – Pastor Marvin E. Davis

Pastor Davis is originally from Little Rock, AR, but is now in Northwest Indiana.  He attended Arkansas State; studied Business Management at Ivy Tech, Pike’s Peak, and University of Maryland; was a non-commissioned officer in the U.S. Army Aviation Core and served in several foreign theaters directing airfield operations.  But in August of 1984 he accepted his calling to the ministry and was ordained to preach by the Tree Of Life Missionary Baptist Church in Gary, IN, under Dr. Cato Brooks Jr.  In 1996 Pastor Davis was appointed as a Mission Pastor serving the Oak Knoll Community and in June of 2004 that ministry constituted as Anew Life Ministry Missionary Baptist Church where he has served as pastor ever since.  In 2005 Pastor Davis founded Anew Life Youth Development Corporation to serve as outreach ministry for the church.  Right now they have received a grant and are developing a Harmony Trail Walk through a wooded section of their 4 acre campus to provide a place for neighbors to exercise and hopefully connect with God, the church, and others.

Pastor Davis has a Bachelor of Ministerial Management and Counseling degree from Crossroads Bible College.  He has been happily married to Emma Davis for 20 years and has 5 wonderful children: Jody, Marva, Art’Tisha, Marvin Christopher, and Anita.
