Next week youth from all over the state will be coming to Chicago to partner with many of our churches to do missions projects. It’s called Go Chicago! Please pray for God to use this in the students’ lives and also to spread the gospel and strengthen Chicagoland Baptist churches.
If you’ve ever been foggy on how our cooperative work is funded, please watch this video that I made, trying to explain the work of Chicagoland Baptists and how it fits into the larger picture with our state and national partners. At half-way through the year, we have received $31,407 from our churches. Our annual budget calls for $75,000. Thanks for your financial support of our local association!
Here is someone to know about – Pastor Mark Chan
Mark has been married to Wendy for 26 years and they have two adult children. 8 years ago, he helped launch Urban Voice (a Chinese/Asian church plant) with the help of IBSA and a vision to see Chinese-speaking people in Chicago come to know Christ and grow in the Word. Thank God for his sustaining grace! The community of Urban Voice has grown from a core group of 30-40 people to about 120 people today. Urban Voice is located in the Bridgeport neighborhood of Chicago, representing Chinese Christians and neighbors from nearby Chinatown, South Loop, McKinley Park, Brighton Park, and beyond. Please pray for them to continue to stay faithful in their ministries so that God’s name is made famous through them!

The Ethics & Religious Liberty Commission (ERLC) represents Southern Baptists in the public square and also equips us to engage it ourselves. If you’re looking for something to help your people think through politics during this season, the ERLC has a new resource – “The Nations Belong to God: A Christian Guide for Political Engagement.” Check it out and consider distributing or using in a Sunday School class or Small Group study.
