Things to Know (July)
Happy Midsummer!
Starting Point Community Church is doing some really neat Migrant Ministry to address the influx of these new neighbors in our city! They are currently housing 18 migrant residents in their building. Pastor Jonathan de la O wants to invite you to an Open House on 8/11 to see what it looks like and visit the nearby police station. If you want to get a glimpse of this ministry, just RSVP HERE. Lunch will be provided!
Here is someone to know about – Maurice Gaiter.
Meet one of our newest church planters. The West Side of Chicago is home to Pastor Maurice Gaiter, who God called to be an encourager to humanity, a relevant gospel preacher, a champion for social justice, and a transparent man of God. His goal is to advance spirituality and social progress within his sphere of influence. For many years he has been a manager at MacArthur’s restaurant, a long-time neighborhood establishment (he’s featured in this recent Sun-Times article). Reverend Gaiter is the proud pastor to Empowerment Community Church of Chicago. He is married to Coretta, and they share a strong commitment to love and family. Pray for their upcoming efforts to engage the community through the Serve Tour. [oh, and he’s also a Cubs fan]

Here is something else to know about –
Pastor Sean Stevenson at Elmwood Park Community Church has started using an amazing new tool to reach Ukranian and Spanish-speakers in his community. I thought others might benefit from it. It’s called Polyglossia and it basically provides closed captioning for live events in different languages. How cool is that! Check it out!
